Artist: Rumill Batts
Biography of Rumill At the tender age of three, she made a cameo appearance in a local cable video show called City Rhythms aired in Memphis, TN and co-hosted by her mother, legendary radio personality of the south, Milli Mills. By the time she reached the age of 4, Rumill DeWon Batts had already been spotted with her mother by a talent scout from Pro Scout Talent Agency held in Memphis, TN in 1998. After being selected by Pro Scout, she received an invitation to compete at the National Talent Scout Convention held in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana, at the Marriot Hotel. Upon attending the ProScout National Talent Scout Convention, Rumill was propositioned with a modeling contract by an Elite Modeling Agency representative from Los Angeles. The representative stated that Rumill possessed a ‘striking presence and withheld stage command’. He recommended that Rumill and her family move to the Los Angeles area to gain immediate access to casting shoots. Due to Rumill’s grandmother ongoing extensive battle with breast cancer which later resulted to uterine cancer, the whole idea to relocate to Los Angeles was shelved. Following the completion of this modeling course, it did not take long for Talent Agent Linda McAlister of LMTalent Agency to sign Rumill for representation. Since then, Rumill has appeared as an extra in various TV commercials including local, regional, and national spots such as Hasbro’s ‘The Game of Life’, ‘Simply Beautiful’ a cable health fitness program, an audience participant in a ‘Barney’ episode, and as a fan in the stand for Cricket Wireless to name a few. Rumill is very active in school and is an honor student. Her accolades in education include an induction into the National Junior Honor Society during her eight grade year at Barbara Bush Middle School in Irving, TX. She played percussion during 6 – 8th grade in the Symphonic Band. At the end of her 7th grade year, during the summer of 2008, Rumill and two other classmates formed a young teen pop group called 3•4•1. This is when Rumill recognized her true knack for performing. But it was only when she received a keyboard for Christmas for the year of 2008 that she recognized her gift of song writing. In October 2009, her persistence in performing led her to an invitation from Super Hit Maker/Producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins to audition in North Hollywood for his new upcoming girl pop group. Although she did not make the group due to the age requirement (17-24), Rumill still continues to write songs and polish her talent! She has taken several Ballet, Lyrical Jazz, and Hip-Hop dance classes at Dallas Power House of Dance! Adding to her repertoire, Rumill performed her single, ‘Not the 1 for me’ on the Juneteenth concert in Denton, TX with local rapper/high school student, Cameron Smith a.k.a. ‘CT’ and at 97.9 the Beat Summer Tour Live Broadcast in Ft. Worth hosted by DJ Big Bink, Open Mic at Club Embargo in Ft. Worth, Back 2 School Talent Show and Music Festival in Duncanville, Art of the Arts Summer Seminar, Back 2 School Skate Party in Duncanville, and Main Street Event in downtown historic Irving, TX. |
